I have coveted this pencil for quite some time, and now I finally own one. A sleek all-black design gives the pencil a futuristic look while also harkening back to classic Pentel pencils like the Graph 1000.The barrel and grip section are made of one seamless piece, providing great stability and eliminating the annoyance of rattling or looseness.
A special resin-metal blend gives the Nero a reassuringly sturdy feel and a comfortable weight that is neither too heavy nor too light. Once the pencil is writing, you never have to click the top button again until the lead runs out! An automatic lead advancement system extends the lead every time you lift the pencil from the page. As you write, the lead sleeve retracts as the lead wears down. Like other Orenz pencils, the Nero is able to use incredibly fine leads with minimal breakage thanks to a sliding lead sleeve that continuously protects the lead. The name Nero is Italian for "black," a reference to the pencil's sleek, all-black design. Older versions of the Pentel Orenz featured a metal grip section engraved with rings instead of knurling. The Nero takes Pentel's cutting-edge Orenz pencils and pushes them into the future. Note: This pencil features a knurled grip section. You can also retract the guide pipe so it doesn't poke you or your belongings when you've stowed the pencil away. The guide pipe will extend again, along with the lead inside.īecause there's no lead breakage, your papers remain clean without smudges from broken lead dust. When you need more lead, just click the top button as you would with any other mechanical pencil. As you write, the guide pipe gets shorter. Since it has rounded edges, the guide pipe doesn't catch on the paper or scratch it. The guide pipe protects the entire length of the lead, and you write without extending the lead out of the guide pipe, which glides right along the surface of the paper.
The grip features special block-shaped knurling that provides excellent slip resistance without the painful points of traditional diamond knurling.ĭespite being so fine, the lead doesn't break as you write, due to the innovative Orenz mechanism. Its metal grip gives the pencil a low center of gravity for a stable, comfortable writing experience even with minimal writing pressure. This mechanical pencil features 0.2 mm lead for amazingly thin, clean lines.
